| In April 2007, I started a personal introduction and search company. I live in the Washington, DC metropolitan area and am surrounded by professional, smart, successful, attractive people who have achieved everything they want in the world of work, but cannot seem to establish a loving relationship. I myself knew how difficult it was to meet that special someone when so much of our lives focus on careers, so I wanted to help these people find their life partners. After two years and several hundred interviews with clients, I realized that most women in search of true love are entirely confused about how men think and what men really want. Understanding this is essential in establishing the beginning bonds of trust that can grow into a solid, long-term, committed relationship. Women-it is not just about you. You cannot simply dictate demands: "I want this and I want that. I have a list of attributes that I require in a man and if he doesn't get a checkmark in every box, he just isn't good enough for me." Relationships are about not only love and companionship, but also communication and compromise. Whether or not you believe this, let me be the first to tell you that you are not perfect. Men are not perfect either and you can simply not hold them to the impossibly high standards that 90% of women seem to have! I know there are many self-help relationship books out there-I myself have read some of them. However, none seems to apply in today's society; and, none really cover all stages of a relationship. After interviewing hundreds of men and women, and setting many on the right track to establishing a successful relationship, I can tell you that this book will give you guidance on not only what you are doing wrong, but also how to make positive changes that will lead to a successful life and relationship. · Married men will not divorce their wives for you...and even if they do, you still don't want them, because they will cheat again...on you! · Communicating with men is different than communicating with women...gossiping will make him run faster than you can run your mouth. Should this form of communication be part of your workday as well, you will miss promotion after promotion; you must stop it! · Lying...to yourself or someone else...should never be a form of communication. (Hard to believe I have to tell you this, but you could not imagine how many people need to hear that statement.) · It is great that you have a successful career, but you should never brag about your income or judge a man by his income. · Some women have been in abusive relationships...you must accept the past and learn to love yourself before you can have a successful relationship. You will be able to do this! · If you are in relationship, and you are not verbally and sexually communicating you will not be in the relationship for the long-term. · God should be in your life and relationship or it will not succeed. On an airline flight I read Ladies Listen UP! by Stephanie Rockey. Brief review: WOW!!! It can easily be read in two hours; a tremendous and very special read. The author offers an exceedingly professional and acceptable insight involving intra-gender relationships and communication.
Because of my enthusiasm my wife insisted on reading the paperback. She loved it, agreeing with the concepts conveyed by Ms. Rockey making me a fortunate male who discovered a lovely and intelligent lifetime mate and friend. The book delves into normal but complex areas involving gender related situations and possible conflicts of emotions surfacing during relationships followed by common sense and workable solutions to the purported problem or misunderstanding. One aspect of this writer that we noticed is a sense of approaching life by basically not complicating simplicity.
Although the title and content indicates the author's intended audience was female, it is our perception males should definitely read the work. They should purchase Ladies Listen UP! as a gift for offspring [male or female] as they leave the nest for college or living on their own
Another suggestion we broached, this book could provide the basis for a university class; hopefully consisting of superb, thoughtful and introspective conversations. Long story short: my wife and I sincerely recommend the purchase and study of this phenomenal work.

Not just for the ladies...

| Gentlemen, don't let the title fool you. We can all learn some valuable knowledge from reading Ms. Rockey's book. The text is written entirely from the female perspective, providing insight and thought processes into situations that I certainly didn't contemplate previously. Gossip (don't do it!), sex, marriage/children, adultery (emotional reasons for women to avoid and some basic truths on how men see it - dead on), and the basic outline of male psyche all within a nice, succinct package. Enjoy the read and take the time to ponder a woman's perspective on life. Certainly if you're lucky enough to find a woman that ascribes to Ms. Rockey's outlined principles, hold on tight! |

| I learned so much reading this book, and I am 66 years old! Stephanie is a great writer and gets her points across very well. I am so glad I purchased this book and would highly recommend it to everyone. I have read and re-read it and pick up something new every time. |

| If you want to understand the difference between how men and women communicate, after reading this book, you will be clear. It's great to read how a woman tells other women how to deal with men. The book is definitely a must read for men who finally want to figure out how to deal with women. I really enjoyed reading the book. It reminded me of the great discussions we had! |
